First Neutron machine into Northern Ireland

McKinstry TEUTON Z 60

McKinstry recently took delivery of what was the first Eggersmann TEUTON Z 60 shredder in Ireland, described as the most versatile machine of its kind on the market, capable of processing a whole range of different materials.

Supplied by Reading based Neutron Equipment Ltd, the TEUTON Z 60 has already proved to be a valuable asset at McKinstry where it is being used in a number of areas from shredding waste wood and old carpets to tyres ands other bulky waste, mattresses etc, all in one pass.

Initially McKinstry weren’t too interested in buying the shredder, but when they saw it in operation on site, they quickly changed their mind – and they haven’t looked back since.

“it’s the first time we have sold a machine into Ireland where we discovered there was quite a strong market for our equipment” says Aaron McVeigh, who along with Mikey Bradshaw only set up the business in 2018. “When we demonstrated the machine to Darren and Mark McKinstry in their yard they immediately saw the benefits”.

So how does the TEUTON Z 60 work? Some 30 interchangeable shredding teeth are mounted to a 3m long shredding rotor with spiral shaped, exchangeable tools which tears the material through a 19-tooth adjustable counter comb.

This simple and sturdy design enables a quick and flexible variation of the distances between the rotor tools and the counter comb teeth. Depending on the requirements, different setting options are available to react to the desired size of the finished product.

After passing the counter comb the material falls onto the discharge conveyor and is discharge at a height of just under 4m. As an option, the machine can be fitted with a screen basket. In that case the, the shredded material first falls onto the screen basket, which encloses the lower half of the rotor. The size of the product can additionally be adjusted with the screen basket.

Other features of the of the shredder include a hydraulically swingable maintenance door for easy access to the shredding chamber, large and wide conveyor belts for maximum discharge, discharge height up to 4m. It has storage space for all options including the screen basket if it is not in use.  Hydraulic / Mechanical drive and smart stand by mode (The TEUTON automatically switches to its standby mode once material feed is halted and independently detects continued material feed to start into full operational mode once again).

“When operators see exactly what the machine can handle, how versatile it is, they have been really impressed – It is capable of so many different applications, seeing is believing” says Aaron, who added that Neutron Equipment have secured orders from several other Irish customers.

Providing machinery sales, service and maintenance to the recycling, biomass, scrap & forestry sectors, Neutron Equipment also have partnerships with ASTEC Industries Peterson who can offer different sizes of grinder up to 1125hp, C&G srl Italia who manufacture equipment for the scrap metal industry under the TAURUS Brand and ECOHOG Ltd whose ECOHOG windsifter and metal recovery ranges are some of the most efficient separation technologies in today’s market.

Neutron Equipment Ltd are represented in Ireland by County Offaly based Dooley Quarrying Services (DQS) who supply heavy equipment into the construction, mining, and recycling industries.

DQS has over 20 years’ experience working in the after sales & maintenance of machines with the aim of helping old and new customers with their equipment sourcing, technical advice and any other queries they may have. “We do not strive to sell the most equipment, we strive to sell the best. That is why here in our local market in Ireland we are working closely with the market leading companies like Neutron Equipment.
